A local candy store has closed its doors for good this week after nearly 30 years of operating in the area.

The Westmont location for O'Shea's Candies closed it's doors Christmas Eve, but, according to owner Matt Brubaker, it is not the end for the popular candy store.

Brubaker said one reason that influenced the decision to close the Westmont location was due to their key manager retiring.

"Our key manager, Marcia Rossi, retired, and she managed this location from the beginning," Brubaker said. "Also, one of our owners passed away last year and this was just us simply consolidating locations since we have a location in both directions."

Brubaker said the three remaining locations in Geistown, Johnstown and Ligonier will remain open.

"We are also in discussions to keep O'Shea's in a few retail locations in Westmont for our Westmont customers to get their chocolate fix," he said.

"We were very happy with the area and sales were not declining," he also said. "It was just time for us on this location."
