Local state Rep. Frank Burns announced that the 1st Summit Arena at the Cambria County War Memorial will be receiving over $55,000 in state funding to upgrade its seating inside the arena.

“These upgrades will increase patrons’ comfort and improve their quality of experience during events,” Burns said. “The War Memorial was established to honor the legacy of Cambria countians who served our country, and I’m committed to ensuring its maximum potential as a top-notch destination venue is realized.”

Officials say the funding was awarded through the state Department of Community and Economic Development and will be used to make such improvements as chair repairs, addition of cup holders and creation of a party pit suite.

“We are always looking for opportunities to improve the arena and the experience for customers. We’re excited about the addition of these upgrades; we think it will enhance the experience of people attending events at the arena,” Cambria County War Memorial Authority Chairman Chris Glessner said.

“We are super appreciative of what Representative Burns has done in helping us secure this grant. He’s been a strong supporter of the arena, and we look forward to working with him in the future," Glessner added.
