PA Superior Court upholds life sentence for Cambria Co. man convicted in 2018 murder
Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — The Pennsylvania Superior Court has upheld the life sentence for Paul Lehman, a Cambria County man who was convicted of first-degree murder last year.
Lehman was sentenced last June to life in prison without the possibility of parole after being found guilty of killing 19-year-old Deontaye Hurling on Thanksgiving Day in 2018.
Authorities say Lehman admitted to fighting with Hurling over drugs and testified that he allegedly saw Hurling reach for a gun, at which point he pulled a knife out of his pocket and stabbed him 46 times, causing him to crash into a fish tank.

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Pope Francis apologized Tuesday after he was quoted using a vulgar term about gay men to reaffirm the Catholic Church's ban on gay priests.
Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni issued a statement acknowledging the media storm that erupted about Francis' comments, which were delivered behind closed doors to Italian bishops on May 20.

Western Pennsylvania woman accused of killing 2 daughters
AMBRIDGE, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a woman in western Pennsylvania shot and killed her two daughters. Ambridge police say 48-year-old Krisinda Bright called officers to the home on Monday afternoon. Interim Police Chief John Deluca says officers found "a gruesome scene" inside. The Beaver County coroner says 16-year-old Kiara Bright and 22-year-old Jasmine Cannady were shot in the head. Their mother was taken to the county jail and is charged with two counts of homicide.
'The Voice,' 'American Idol' contestant performs at Elton Sportsman's Club
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — A concert Sunday night in Cambria County was a sign that things may be getting back to normal.
6 News was at Elton Sportsman’s club where former “The Voice” and “American Idol” contestant Sawyer Auger performed.
He told us during the time he couldn't perform live in person, so he used social media to perform live.
He also says it gave him a chance to talk about the stigmas of mental health.
Amtran to soon extend hours, route, official confirms
BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. — Amtran will be extending operating hours on their existing routes beginning this June as well as adding a new route that extends to Bellwood and Tyrone, according to Amtran CEO Josh Baker.
According to Baker, Amtran implemented a Transit Development Plan that began in 2021 and ended in late 2022 that focused on analyzing current service efficiencies and potential growth opportunities and that they continue to develop short, mid and long term plans that derive from the development plan.
Crews from multiple counties dispatched to fire at Bedford Valley Petroleum
BEDFORD COUTNY, Pa. (WJAC) — A massive fire erupted in Bedford County Thursday on the 10,000 block of Lincoln Highway in Everett.
Firefighters from four different counties responded to the large-scale fire at Bedford Valley Petroleum, but Bedford County Emergency Management Agency Director Dave Cubbison says it could’ve been a lot worse.
“Right around this area, we had facilities like AmeriGas, we had Spring House Estates, we had the hospital less than a mile away,” said Cubbison.
Local Bradley's Book Outlet closing all stores, liquidation sales begin this weekend

Penn State Police investigating reported sexual assault at East Halls dormitory
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa (WJAC) — Penn State University Police are investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred over the weekend at the East Halls residence complex, according to a campus-wide timely warning.
Authorities say the assault occurred early Saturday morning, between 3 and 3:30 a.m., by a known male.
According to the campus alert, the assault was reported early Sunday morning to university police.

Sheetz aims for Ebensburg liquor license, worrying business owners
EBENSBURG -- After canceling a public hearing on its attempts to get a liquor license here, Sheetz is causing local beer sellers to worry that they might soon see a dip in sales.
Sheetz, which recently acquired a liquor license in Carrolltown, said Tuesday it is looking to start selling beer and wine at any of its stores that it can.
For local business owners who have to compete with Sheetz, though, that could spell disaster.

Dozens of community leaders gathered at the Holiday Inn -- along Market Street in Downtown Johnstown -- where the Secretary’s Award for Municipal Excellence was presented.
It's the first award of it's kind, which will be given out once a year to a community in Pennsylvania that is "driving momentum for change.
