Former PSU kicker Joey Julius speaks out about eating disorder
UNIVERSITY PARK - Former Penn State kicker Joey Julius left the football team a few months before the current season. Julius said he's been struggling with an eating disorder since he was 9 years old and called the disorder his "secret struggle".
Julius was a Big Ten athlete for two years, but his image haunted him and his peers harassed him. While on the team, he was nicknamed "Big Toe" and was best known for his aggressive play on kick returns — something counter intuitive for most kickers.
Over 90 dogs rescued from distressing conditions by Bedford County Humane Society
An investigation into a Bedford County home on New Year's Eve has led to the Bedford County Humane Society being extremely overcrowded.
More than 90 dogs were brought to the shelter on Sunday night and volunteers say they were here until one in the morning making the dogs as comfortable as they could be.
New Year’s quickly became busy for the workers at the shelter. The shelter manager Kathy Ramsey says that they can comfortably fit about forty-five dogs and that after last night they have about one-hundred and fifteen.

Accused Elk County murderer testifies stabbing was justified
RIDGWAY, Pa. — A trial began Wednesday for an Elk County man accused of stabbing and killing another last year.
Harvey Detterline III, 37, of Byrnedale, is accused of killing 29-year-old Richard Hicks after locking him out of an apartment in Johnsonburg Aug. 16.
In opening statements, the prosecution said this case is not factually complicated.
Assistant District Attorney Tom Coppolo said the description of the events leading up to the homicide will prove Detterline did not act in self-defense.

Cameron County, PA (WJAC) — State police in Cameron County say an Emporium man is facing several felonies, accused of kidnapping a woman and driving her to her home where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.
Authorities say, during the early morning hours of Sunday, January 22nd, troopers were dispatched to a residence along East 5th Street for a report of a possible rape.
According to the affidavit, troopers say they observed several, visible injuries to the female victim, including multiple cuts and abrasions to her face, torso, arms and legs.

Local candy store closes its doors
A local candy store has closed its doors for good this week after nearly 30 years of operating in the area.
The Westmont location for O'Shea's Candies closed it's doors Christmas Eve, but, according to owner Matt Brubaker, it is not the end for the popular candy store.
Brubaker said one reason that influenced the decision to close the Westmont location was due to their key manager retiring.
