WASHINGTON (TND) — The way Americans feel about the economy is in direct contrast with the measured data that is showing continued growth and strong employment opportunities for workers that has been consistent despite higher interest rates from the Federal Reserve that are meant to cool activity. A Harris-Guardian poll released this week found more than half of Americans believe the economy is in recession and shrinking, nearly 50% believe unemployment is at a 50-year high and that the S&P index is down for the year.

Delta diarrhea incident forces flight to turn around

WASHINGTON (TND) — A Delta Air Lines flight traveling from Atlanta to Barcelona was forced to turn around Friday night after a passenger had a severe bout of diarrhea. A DL 194 pilot could be heard telling air traffic control "It's just a biohazard issue, we had a passenger who had diarrhea all the way through the airplane so they want us to come back to Atlanta." Data from FlightAware shows the Airbus 350 arrived back at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport a little more than two hours after it departed.

GJSD renews contract for superintendent Amy Arcurio

Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Greater Johnstown School Board has agreed to renew the contract of district Superintendent Dr. Amy Arcurio. The decision to grant a contract extension was made at a special school board meeting Tuesday evening and comes after the teacher's union gave a vote of "no confidence" to Arcurio in April. The union argued that Arcurio was not doing enough to combat the rise in violence and behavioral issues within the district.

Local church hosts discussion of mental health awareness with Johns Hopkins professor

Dr. Daniel Hale, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University led a discussion at the Westmont Presbyterian Church on congregational mental health awareness.
