Future of Bellefonte Waterfront Project uncertain

Bellefonte, PA (WJAC) — It’s a project that could bring in a lot of tourists’ spending and add a whole new look to downtown Bellefonte, but after years of delays, there's still no confirmation whether the proposed Waterfront District Project will ever be built. It’s been nearly six years since developers unveiled plans for the Waterfront District in Bellefonte. Plans include a hotel, residential condominiums, and a parking garage; all to be built in a vacant lot along Spring Creek.

Man charged with driving on abandoned section of PA Turnpike

FULTON COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — A Cumberland County man has been charged with trying to take a ride through history. Pennsylvania State Police said Sunday that Ivan Fowler, 27, was charged Thursday with simple trespassing after someone told state police he posted pictures of himself cutting open a lock to an access gate for the abandoned section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike and other photos showed him driving on the 13-mile stretch of road, which is now private property.

Remembering the Quecreek Mine rescue 16 years later

Documents reveal more on FBI's account of 2012 Elk Co. gold excavation

But according to recently released documents, the FBI was indeed looking for gold and a local treasure hunting company is still fighting to know where that gold is. The dispute between federal agencies and a group of treasure hunters dates back to 2008, when Dennis and Kem Parada, co owners of Finders Keepers a treasure hunting service, announced they had learned of the location of gold and other treasures of the Civil War in Elk County.

DuBois Area School Board considers moving fifth-graders to middle school

DUBOIS - The DuBois Area School District is looking into a reconfiguration plan for the middle school. Officials are considering moving fifth-graders to the middle school, which currently houses grades six through eight. According to the reconfiguration proposal on the district’s website, the plan is being considered because the middle school is not as full as it should be. Man charged in fatal shooting of UPS driver worked for the same company as victim

IRVINE, Calif. (TND) — The man accused in the slaying of a UPS driver in California was charged with "special circumstance murder." Rhean Jalipa Fontanoza, 46, was charged in the shooting death of Expedito Cuesta De Leon, Fontanoza's "childhood friend" and "coworker." The 50-year-old man who worked for UPS was killed inside his delivery truck on Thursday, May 16, according to Irvine police. Police found De Leon dead, still with the seatbelt buckled, slumped over in the driver’s seat.

Mountains turn blue as Coors Light semi overturns, scattering cans across interstate

TRUCKEE, Calif. (News 4 & Fox 11) — The mountains win again and they are in fact blue. A semi-truck carrying cases of Coors Light beer overturned on I-80 in Placer County early Monday morning, scattering silver cans across the roadway, according to the California Highway Patrol. All westbound traffic was rerouted was temporarily rerouted onto Rainbow Road but one lane of traffic has since reopened. CHP said a driver and passenger were in the truck when it overturned and both suffered minor injuries.
