Man charged with attempted homicide after firing gun into car outside Altoona bar

Altoona, PA (WJAC) — Authorities with the Altoona Police Department say a Blair County man is behind bars and is charged with attempted homicide after he allegedly fired a gun into a vehicle outside a local bar. According to the affidavit, police received a complaint early Sunday morning from a woman who claimed that she had been shot at while inside her vehicle at the Kettle Inn Bar. Investigators say, according to the victim, she had driven to the bar to pick up a group of friends when the incident occurred.

Man charged with raping 2 girls in Centre County

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — State police said a Port Matilda man was arrested and charged with repeatedly raping two young girls. According to a criminal complaint, 20-year-old Elijah Weaver assaulted the girls for a number of years. Police said Weaver would take the girls to a barn and campground area and force them to perform several different sexual acts. The victims told police Weaver would grab them and tell them not to move, the complaint said.

Shelters open in Osceola Mills in wake of flooding

OSCEOLA MILLS, Pa. - Osceola Mills is under a local emergency, according to the Columbia Fire Company. The station said it has opened a shelter at their headquarters and another shelter is opened at the Catholic Church in Osceola. The fire company said that Curtain Park Court and the Newtown and Logan Road areas were hit the hardest with flooding and several residents had to be evacuated. The American Red Cross is responding to the area and will be visiting residents in the heaviest hit areas and will provide them with cleanup kits.

UNIVERSITY PARK -- The Penn State football program saw six alums sign undrafted free agent contracts after having five players selected in the 2019 NFL Draft. The Nittany Lions have 11 players from the 2019 team with NFL opportunities. The undrafted free agent signees include tight end Nick Bowers (Las Vegas Raiders), wide receiver Dan Chisena (Minnesota Vikings), punter Blake Gillikin (New Orleans Saints), offensive lineman Steven Gonzalez (Arizona Cardinals), linebacker Jan Johnson (Houston Texans) and safety Garrett Taylor (Buffalo Bills).

Uber comes to Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN - Uber recently expanded its availability in the state, including Johnstown. Uber's expansion is part of a growth plan that now allows Uber to cover 93 percent of Pennsylvania, an upgrade from 77 percent, according to the company's website. Chester Co. man facing homicide charges after shooting family members

A Kennett Square man is facing homicide charges after shooting his wife and daughter during a domestic dispute Thursday, according to a press release by the Chester County District Attorney. The press release states that state police responded to reports of a shooting on the 200 block of Wiltshire Drive in East Marlborough Township around 6:15 p.m. The district attorney said that two women, ages 75 and 37, were discovered unresponsive laying on the ground inside the residence with multiple gunshot wounds.

Johnstown man killed in motorcycle crash on Route 30 in Westmoreland County

Westmoreland County, PA — Authorities in Westmoreland County say a Johnstown man was killed earlier this week in a motorcycle crash on Route 30. Investigators say the crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. Monday along the 3000 block of US Route 30 in Derry Township. Officials identified the operator of the motorcycle as 39-year-old Shawn Pynos. Investigators say Pynos was traveling westbound when his motorcycle went off the roadway and into a gravel area.

Man contracted a flesh-eating bacteria after walking on South Carolina beach

Morning fire damages Spring Township home, pet killed
